Carnforth, Lancashire

Our New Year's coach ramble was at Carnforth on a bright but very cold and windy January day.  34 Ramblers enjoyed the day as the wind blew away the festive season's cobwebs.  Peter Wilson led the group of 22 on the 8 mile walk up the canal to the M6 junction and across some very wet fields to Bolton le Sands.  They then reached the edge of the coastal marshes and back to Carnforth via Holgates caravan site and the canal.

Frank Atherton led the shorter walk along the Lancaster Canal to just beyond Bolton le Sands, where they endured a very windy lunch break.  The way back was by Mount Pleasant Lane, with fine views of Morecambe Bay and Warton Crag, and back along the canal.

Back at Carnforth Station some of us enjoyed a visit to the cinema and a "Brief Encounter."
