Castleton, Derbyshire.

Wigan Group's October Coach Ramble to Castleton, Derbyshire was on a very grey, damp Saturday after a fine week.  The recce had been "fantastic" and "wow" with extensive views and they saw over 30 paragliders up around Mam Tor.  Peter Wilson led the longer walk up Mam Tor and by Lose Hill.  The party of 18 found 2 steep sections and enjoyed the day although the weather was unfavourable.

Frank Atherton led 15 on the 4 mile "comparatively gentle" walk.  We walked via Goosehill and by Speedwell Cavern.  After a lunch stop at the Odin Mine site we walked along the collapsed road and round to Hollowford Road and back to Castleton.  We had plenty of time to explore the village and to find a café or a pub.

It was agreed that another visit to the area should be arranged and that several members had missed out on very enjoyable rambles.
