Hornby, Lancashire

After very disappointing turnouts on the last 3 coach rambles February’s trip to Hornby was very well supported.

Plans for the rambles had to be amended as both pubs in Hornby are now closed.  Both walks started in Hornby and ended in Wray.  The total of 44 ramblers was evenly divided between the short and the long rambles.  Geoff Stanley led the group on a 9 mile walk northwards along the Lune valley and they enjoyed beautiful views towards Ingleton and the snow covered fells.  Phil Bullen led the shorter walk first of all on a 2.5 mile circle along the River Wenning and the Lune up to Loyne Bridge and back to the playground in Hornby for lunch.  The walk to Wray followed the River Hindburn.  A few chose a shortcut into Wray and the rest joined them later at the Bridge House Farm tearooms or at the George and Dragon, after a very pleasant day out.
