Trencherfield Trek Easter 2015

Our traditional Trencherfield Trek was again held on the Bank Holiday Monday.  We met up at the Orwell Pub and again Peter Wilson led our ramble of 12 miles.

Again there were just 7 of us, as there has been for the last 3 years.  This year Peter wasn't the only male, as Jim and Brian from West Lancs Long Distance Walkers came with us.

It was a nice fresh day.  We started walking along the canal and made our way to Leyland Park in Hindley.  There we sat on a picnic bench and had our sandwiches.  It's ironical that the park, given to the people of Hindley, by the wealthy John Leyland, was opened on the same day as Hindley Library that he financed also.  Sadly the library is no longer with us.

From the park we meandered to the Edington Arms (a real ale pub) for a welcome drink. Then we went via the Whelley Loop to the Kirkless Inn for another refrehment stop.

Jim and Brian left us at New Springs, our intrepid, gallant leader, Peter, led us back and it was plain sailing (not literally) along the canal back to the Orwell.

It was good of Peter to lead us, despite his other pressing commitments.
